Type Locality and Naming
The type section is located in the Subashi Village to the west of the Keping County, Xinjiang. It was named by the Institute of Geology and Mineral Resources of Xinjiang in 1987.

Lithology and Thickness
Clastics. Composed of grey-green, grey and purple siltstone, clayey siltstone, calcareous conglomerate and bioclastic limestone, intercalated with fine- and medium-grained feldspar-lithoclastic rocks, with a thickness of 32 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Disconformable contact with the limestone of the underlying Kangkelin Fm.
Upper contact
It is in a conformable contact with the overlying Baliqliq Fm or Kalundar Fm.
Regional extent
The formation is 71.2 m thick in the Baliqliq area of the Keping County. In the eastern segment of the Kepingtag the formation has a total thickness of 107 m. In the Piqang Mt. area it is composed largely of variegated clayey rocks and siltstone, with a thickness of about 15-18 m, and is in an unconformable contact with the underlying Kangkelin Fm due to the occurrence of a distinct erosion surface in between them. In the vicinity of the Matan area in the northern part of the Subashi Village the formation is composed of red sandstone, with a thickness of 5 m.

Top part in the Baliqliq area of the Keping County yields Brachiopods such as Neoplicatifera absuensis.
