Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Disconformable contact with the limestone of the underlying Kangkelin Fm.

Upper contact

It is in a conformable contact with the overlying Baliqliq Fm or Kalundar Fm.

Regional extent

The formation is 71.2 m thick in the Baliqliq area of the Keping County. In the eastern segment of the Kepingtag the formation has a total thickness of 107 m. In the Piqang Mt. area it is composed largely of variegated clayey rocks and siltstone, with a thickness of about 15-18 m, and is in an unconformable contact with the underlying Kangkelin Fm due to the occurrence of a distinct erosion surface in between them. In the vicinity of the Matan area in the northern part of the Subashi Village the formation is composed of red sandstone, with a thickness of 5 m.

Fossils

Top part in the Baliqliq area of the Keping County yields Brachiopods such as Neoplicatifera absuensis.
